Kerala economy yet to emerge from Covid crisis, growth rate 7.10%: Union govt data

New Delhi: Kerala has a growth rate of only 7.10 percent and has not yet reached its pre-Covid level, according to the latest figures released by Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

The data is of 2021-22 financial year till August 1 with base year 2011-12.

The economies of 19 states and union territories were also analysed.

However, growth rates of 11 states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Goa and Assam were not available for the union government’s analysis.

The latest figures show that Kerala and Uttar Pradesh are the only two states out of the 19, whose Gross State Domestic Products did not cross pre-Covid level.

The data shows Andhra Pradesh (11.43 pc), Rajasthan (11.04 pc), Bihar (10.98), Telangana (10.88), Delhi (10.23), Odisha (10.19), Madhya Pradesh (10.12), Haryana (9.80), Karnataka (9.47) fared better. Lowest growth is for Puducherry (3.31 pc).
