Jio has established over 14000 true 4G network sites across Kerala, to provide high quality 4G connectivity across the state.

In February 2021, Jio had announced expansion of its 4G network in Kerala by about 15 percent to cater to the increasing demand of 4G towers in tier-2 towns and villages. The company delivered its commitment by the end of the year, Jio said in a press release. Also, Jio set up around 31 towers based on public requests this year.

The COVID pandemic exposed the need for towers especially in rural locations. Data demand and data consumption has increased post Covid because of work from home, online education, and increased use of OTT platforms calls and entertainment. This increasing demand was the trigger to expand Jio’s scope to set up new 4G towers in the State, the company stated in a press release.
