GST Intelligence raid: Tax evasion of over Rs 1000 crores detected at jewellery stores in Kerala

Kochi: Tax evasion of over Rs 1000 crores was detected by the GST intelligence wing, after a single day raid at 33 jewellery stores across the districts of Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kannur, and Kozhikode. It was found out that most of the stores were using special softwares for the purpose.

The merchants who were caught were made to pay the accurate taxes. The raids which had begun at 3 PM on Friday continued till Saturday afternoon. The raids were led by Johnson Chacko (Deputy Commissioner, Goods and Tax department) and Intelligence officer M K Arun.
