Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to bring out indigenous products with ‘Kerala Brand’ certificate and trademark.
The brand certificate will be issued only after taking various factors into consideration. The parameters for issuing the certificate include participation of women workforce, use of green-renewable energy sources, and zero tolerance to child labor.
From now on, only products with the brand certificate shall be promoted under the label of ‘Made in Kerala’ in domestic and international markets.
The products will be given logos as per the trademark rules. Unauthorised use of ‘Made in Kerala’ label will invite strict action. A special committee has been formed for issuing certificates on the basis of a thorough quality check, assessing the market behavior. The committee of experts will be chaired by the principal secretary of industries department.
The certificate will be issued only if the product satisfies the conditions approved by the government.
The government will promote ‘Made in Kerala’ products across E-market platforms. The investors of the products will be provided facilities for improving the quality of their products. The applications will be verified by a five member committee chaired by the general manager of the district industries center. The certificate will be valid for two years.
