Price of gold witnessed a sharp increase in the state. On Thursday, the price for a sovereign increased by Rs 400 at Rs. 45,600. The price for a gram of gold increased to Rs. 5,700.

A similar spike was witnessed on April 14 last month.

Turbulence in the banking sector and fears of recession seems to have triggered the current surge.

Meanwhile, the price for one troy ounce (31.1 grams) of pure gold at the international market rose to 2,044 USD.
