Kochi: Only five Malayalis occupied the Forbes billionaires list from India in 2022. Last year, there were as many as 10 Malayalis in the list. Expatriate and Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuff Ali emerged as the richest Malayali on the list. The cumulative worth of his wealth has been calculated as 540 crore dollars (Rs 44,604 crore). Yusuff Ali occupied 35th rank in the Forbes list of billionaires.
Muthoot family was selected as the second richest Malayali group on the list with a net worth of 405 crore dollars (Rs 33,453 crore). Muthoot Group was enlisted as the 45th in the Forbes list. Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran, Joy Alukkas chairman Joy Alukkas and Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan managed to occupy the third, fourth and fifth position among Malayalis respectively.
The richest person in India is the Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani. He owns a wealth with a cumulative worth of 15000 crore dollars (12.39 lakh crore). He has been followed by Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani with 8,800 crore dollars and Radhakishan Damani with 2,760 crore dollars.
The collective wealth of 100 richest Indians grew to 80,000 crore dollars.
