Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram: Local self-government minister MB Rajesh on Wednesday claimed that the property tax rate in Kerala remains the lowest in the country.

He referred to the narrative that the state government raised the property tax drastically as inaccurate.

Rajesh noted that property tax reform was long pending since 2018 and it got delayed to recurring floods and the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also claimed that the regime actually reduced the 25 per cent hike proposed by the finance commission, by 5 per cent.

“Welfare of the local industries is the top priority of the LDF government,” he highlighted.
