5 years of GST: Data reveals sad state of affairs in Kerala

Kochi: Union government’s GST implementation is to complete its five-year anniversary, yet things are not promising as touted for Kerala, suggest data.

The GST revenue of Kerala has not increased in an assuring manner, though it shows year-to-year growth. The growth is less than 14 per cent in each year and the state over these five years have to rely on the GST compensation of the union government.

Meanwhile, Kerala’s GST contribution is mere 2%. The neighbouring states are having GST contribution more than 10%.
