Thiruvananthapuram: Five more persons from Thiruvananthapuram have been diagnosed with Zika virus on Thursday, informed Health minister Veena George. The testing was done at the National Institute of Virology lab in Alappuzha. With this, the total number of people infected with Zika virus in Kerala rose to 28.
Two women, who are 35 years and 29 years from Anayara, a 38-year-old woman from Kunnukuzhi, 33-year-old man from Pattom and a 44-year-old woman from Kizhakkekotta were diagnosed positive. Among the five samples, four were sent for testing by a private clinic and one was collected and tested as part of the surveillance measures taken by the Department of Health.
Meanwhile, the test results of as many as 16 Zika patients have turned negative, informed concerned officials.
