Missing Kottayam youth found dead in TVM

Thiruvananthapuram: A youth, who went missing from Kottayam was found hanging on a rubber plantation here on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as James Varghese, a native of Kottayam. He was found hanged on the rubber plantation near the international aquatic complex in Pirappancode here.

The body appeared to be at least two days old, said police.

James Varghese reportedly went missing from Kottayam a few days back. Following this, Kottayam East police registered a case and an investigation was underway. Meanwhile, the locals found the youth’s body on the rubber plantation. His car was found parked nearby the road.

According to police, the youth would have reached the rubber plantation by around Monday noon. The police have received CCTV footage showing the youth walking towards the plantation. His mobile phone was also recovered from the spot.

It is assumed that James Varghese killed himself by Monday noon. The police also suspect that he had attempted to record the visuals of the suicide. His phone is being thoroughly examined by the police.
