Thrissur: In a tragic incident, a youth died after his bike rammed onto the rear of a parked lorry on National Highway 544 at Chembuthra. Iron bars loaded on the lorry struck the youth, resulting in his death.
Sradhesh, 21, the deceased, was a Puthucode native. The accident happened at around 4.15 in the evening. Sradhesh was travelling towards Palakkad when he hit the lorry. Police immediately took him to a private hospital. However, his life could not be saved.
Natives alleged that the lorry had no warning signals that the iron bars did not fit inside the container or that the vehicle was parked on the roadside. Meanwhile, the driver said that he stopped on the roadside since the tarpaulin sheet he used to cover the bars flew away.
