Kakkanad: The police nabbed a 20-year-old youth for allegedly thrashing a girl and covering her in plastic sheets. The accused has been identified as Gopakumar (20), an employee of a restaurant in Edappally.
According to police, the youth and the victim are colleagues and apparently were in a relationship. The duo got into a heated argument over Gopakumar’s affair with another girl, which led to the attack.
They were fired from the restaurant following the dispute. Following which, Gopakumar brought the girl to an empty space near Unichira early morning and brutally assaulted her.
Later, the youth covered the girl in plastic sheets and attempted to flee the place. However, he was nabbed by the police with the help of locals.
The girl is currently admitted to the intensive care unit at a private hospital in Ernakulam.
