Youth held for flying drone over Ettumanoor temple

Kottayam: Police took a man into custody for allegedly flying a drone over the famous Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple on Monday morning. According to reports, Ettumanoor Kallankara native Thomas was nabbed by the police for capturing visuals of the temple through a drone.

It is learnt that he is being interrogated at the police station.

Police have imposed restrictions on using drones on the temple premises as the ancient Siva temple comes under a highly protected zone.

The alleged incident happened around 8:30 AM on Monday.

The police took action against the youth after Devaswom Board officials filed a complaint regarding the same.

The officer said that neither FIR was lodged nor any arrests were recorded yet.

Reports said that the person used a drone to capture a video for uploading it on his YouTube channel. Police said that prima facia the act is not mysterious. However, the statements from the temple staff will be taken. It is assumed that police will book the man for violating the curbs.

Earlier, a photographer who used a drone to capture a wedding event was booked by police.
