Pathanamthitta: A Kozhikode native was arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl after befriending her through Instagram and eloping with her to Chennai. The accused is identified as Fasil (26), hailing from Valayanad in Kozhikode. Pathanamthitta police registered a case on August 28 after the girl went missing.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the girl went along with the accused to Chennai. The police were not able to trace them since their phones were switched off. However, the police found their whereabouts with the help of the Cyber Cell.
A team led by Pathanamthitta DySP S Nandakumar traced the duo in Chennai. Inspector Jibu John, SI Anoop Chandran, Jyothi Sudhakar, CPOs Sherif, Suni, ASI Rajeev and SCPO Manilal were also in the team.
The girl told police that Fasil sexually abused her multiple times while staying at various lodges and houses in Chennai.
