Youth drowns in sea near Fort Kochi, friends rescued

Kochi: The body of a youth who went missing in the sea near Fort Kochi's Saudi Beach was recovered on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Nayif (18), son of Nawas, hailing from Palluruthy.

On Sunday morning, Nayif arrived at the beach with his eight others to bath in the sea. However, Nayif and others went missing after a huge wave swept them away.

Though all others were rescued, Nayif was nowhere to be found. Later, his body was found in a joint operation by fishermen, fire force units and divers. His body was shifted to Ernakulam General Hospital after inquest proceedings.
