Kochi: The Youth Congress activists triggered a fresh controversy by taking a five-year-old boy to the streets for a protest. According to reports, the Youth Congress took the boy for a demonstration to protest against the incident in which a three-year-old boy fell into a drain at Panambally Nagar here.

Following the protest march to the Corporation office, the Youth Congress laid the five-year-old boy on the pavement without wearing a shirt. His head was on a woman's lap and the activists had placed grass and plastic pieces on the boy's body.

Youth Congress has been receiving flak over the incident.

Youth Congress organised the protest march to lay a siege at the mayor's office. Following this, they staged a sit-in protest in front of the corporation and made the child lie down on the pavement.
The activists stated that the child was accompanied by his mother to the protest venue.

Responding to the media over the child's participation, the Youth Congress activists stated that the child used to join them in protests.

"The boy had joined us in a protest against the water authority. In that demonstration, we had given a bath to him," said the activists.
