Kannur: Police arrested a Youth Congress local leader for sexually abusing a minor boy here. The accused is identified as Suneesh Thayathuvayal, a Youth Congress secretary of Payannur constituency.
Police booked him under POCSO charges over a complaint filed by the boy’s father. The sexual assault came to light after the parents of the boy noticed changes in his behaviour.
Police took the accused into custody on Monday night and recorded his arrest on Tuesday morning. Following the procedures, the court remanded him in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Youth Congress expelled Suneesh from its primary membership. Youth Congress Kannur district president Sudeep James officially announced the party’s decision.
