Youth Congress hartal: Stone pelted at KSRTC buses in Kozhikode
T’purm/Kochi/Kochi: Statewide hartal condemning the murder of two youth congress activists in Kasaragod began at 6 am on Monday. The hartal which was initially declared only in Kasaragod district by the Congress and UDF was later extended across the state by the Youth Congress.
Normal life have been hit, despite state police chief's instruction to ensure normalcy. People were late to know about the hartal as it was announced in the wee hours. Many interstate freight vehicles are plying the roads. But, no private buses or KSRTC buses have started service.
No casualties have been reported in Kasaragod district so far.
There were reports of stone pelting at two KSRTC buses at Pantheerpad in Kozhikode. No other casualties were reported here.
Private buses and KSRTC buses are on the roads of Kochi. However, people fear attack in the coming hours.
As per reports hartal sympathisers compulsorily closed shops at Kilimanoor in Thiruvananthapuram. Youth Congress activists blocked KSRTC buses at Attingal. Police arrested those blocked buses.
Public weren’t aware about the lately announced hartal. KSRTC and private buses ply in Thiruvananthapuram. Police surveillance have been strengthened at all places.
A petition will be filed under contempt of court against Dean Kuriakose for calling for hartal through Facebook violating the High Court order banning the flash hartals.
