Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint was lodged against Kerala State Youth Commission Chairperson Chintha Jerome before Kerala Lok Ayukta for her alleged involvement in party affairs.
According to the complaint filed by Youth Congress State General Secretary Binu Chulliyil, the former SFI leader is attending party events despite holding a crucial judicial position. The complainant pointed out that it was illegal for her to hold the office and attend party events.
The Lokayukta will consider the complaint on Monday.
According to the 10th section of the commission, the government has assigned extensive civil duties and powers to the youth commission. The commission has all the powers of a civil court as per the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Central Act 5 of 1908) while performing its functions under section 9.
Further, the commission has the power to summon and enforce the attendance of any person and examine him on oath, requiring the discovery and production of any document, receiving evidence on affidavits, and issuing commissions for the examination of witnesses or documents.
