Youth arrested in Malappuram over fake income certificate prepared for welfare pension

Eramangalam (Malappuram): A youth who faked certificates for welfare pensions in a local body here has been arrested. Palappetty native Ajmal (23) is accused of preparing 15 fake income certificates for the applicants.

Ajmal used to run a Jan Seva Kendra at Puthiyiruthi. The Veliancode grama panchayat, while reviewing the documents, got suspicious about the certificates. The panchayat handed it over to village officer, who confirmed that they were fake. Based on the officer’s complaint, Perumbadappu police started a probe. The certificates had the same number.

The police found that Ajmal made the certificate based on the statement of the applicants. He was remanded by the Ponnani court.

Certificates submitted to other local bodies in the district will also be verified in the wake of this incident.
