Kochi: A youth was arrested for accidentally firing at a passerby using an air gun near Kaloor International Stadium on Saturday night. The accused is identified as Arjun Vinod(22), hailing from Muppathadaom. Palarivattom police booked him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Ajmal Ali, 29, was shot in the head while Arjun and his friends were filming an Instagram reel using the gun near the stadium. He only suffered a minor injury. Ajmal was returning home with his family after dinner when the incident happened. He was soon admitted to Ernakulam General Hospital for treatment. Later, he filed a complaint before Palarivattom police on Monday.
Police have seized another pellet used in the gun from Arjun. He was taken into custody and was produced before the court.
