K Bijith
Kozhikode: A young soldier of the Indian Army was found hanging in a lodge at Muthalakkulam here on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as K Bijith (25), a native of Palakkad's Mannarkkad.
Bijith, who was posted in Kashmir, had reached his house for a vacation of two and a half months. According to his family, Bijith left for Kashmir on Sunday with another soldier from Kozhikode. He had contacted his family after reaching New Delhi. Later, an army officer rang up Bijith’s brother and informed him that the former had not reported in the camp at Kashmir.
When the family contacted Bijith, he said that he was returning to Kerala to assist his friend who went sick during the journey. But after this, his phone got switched off. The family could not contact Bijith after this.
According to police, Bijith reached Kozhikode on Wednesday and he stayed in a lodge at Muthalakkulam. He was alone, police added. The staff at the lodge informed the police when he did not answer the door the next morning. He was found dead when police reached the lodge and opened the door.
Police have recovered evidence related to his Delhi and Maharashtra trips. The official also got a boarding pass from Delhi to Kashmir.
Bijith joined the army in 2021 after completing B Tech. His family claimed that he had no financial issues or any other problems to the best of their knowledge.
Further details are awaited.
