Writers, cultural leaders send letter to Kerala CM seeking reinstatement of Malayalam ‘Aksharamala’

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned writers and cultural leaders sent a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking that Malayalam ‘Aksharamala’ (alphabet) be reinstated in school textbooks.

MT Vasudevan Nair, Prof MK Sanu, Sarah Joseph, Paul Zacharia, Prof MN Karassery, Prof KG Sankara Pillai, Dr Desamangalam Ramakrishnan, VK Sreeraman, Jayaraj Warrier, Kureepuzha Sreekumar, and Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu jointly wrote a letter to the CM and the education department. The letter sent under the guidance of the All India Save Education Committee (AISEC) points out that the students are losing their language skills following reformations including District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) and that learning of the alphabet must be restarted soon.
