Thiruvananthapuram: September 28 is observed as World News Day and Mathrubhumi is all set to have debate on facts during post-truth era. The one-day event titled ‘Sacred Facts’ spread over three sessions hosting media mavens and owners to deliberate on the way ahead for practitioners of credible journalism in the age of disruption. The event `Media In A Post – Truth World’, in association with Dailyhunt, organised as part of the centenary celebrations of Mathrubhumi will be held at Uday Palace Convention Centre, Kowdiar Gardens, Thiruvananthapuram.
The inaugural session will be held from 10am to 11am. Devika Shreyams Kumar, Vice President - Operations, Mathrubhumi, will deliver the welcome address. Managing Director of Mathrubhumi MV Shreyams Kumar will preside over the function. N Ram, former Chief Editor of The Hindu, will inaugurate the function.
Session 2 - Counter Media with discussions on ‘Narratives, lapses in reporting and self-criticism’ (Language - Malayalam) will be held from 01.45 pm - 03.15 pm. Ullekh N P, Executive Editor of Open Magazine will be the moderator. Keynote Address will be delivered by Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor of India Today TV. Other speakers are Hari S Kartha, Senior Journalist, VM Ibraheem, Editor at Madhyamam, Kiran Thomas, Social Media Activist, MG Radhakrishnan, Group Editorial Advisor at Asianet News and Adv. Sebastian Paul, Media Critic.
Session 3 - The Way Forward with discussions on ‘Is fact-based journalism a winning proposition?’ (Language - English) will be held from 3.45 pm to 05.15 pm. Moderator: Mayura Shreyams Kumar, Director Digital Business, Mathrubhumi. Keynote Address : Anant Goenka, Executive Director, Indian Express. Other speakers : Avinash Pandey, CEO at ABP Network, Dhanya Rajendran, Editor-in-Chief of The News Minute, Jency Jacob, Managing Editor at BOOM LIVE, John Brittas MP, MD at Kairali TV, B Srinivasan, Managing Director at Ananda Vikatan.
Interactive sessions will also be held at the end of each session.
