Kochi: KCBC President and Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church Cardinal Mar George Alencherry said that all Christian denominations should be prepared for relocation of crucifixes, chapels or small places of worship to facilitate public transportation. He also requested the believers to cooperate generously to the needs of the society. The cardinal, who is also the chairman of the Kerala Inter-Church Council, was responding in the wake of the High Court verdict regarding land acquisition for development of National Highway.

He reminded that the government should take care to plan development projects wisely so that it does not affect the existence of worship centres that are of historical significance and utilized by many believers.

The Cardinal also praised the temple authorities of Kovval Azhivathukkal Temple for handing over the temple premises to the development of National Highway 66. He called on all to work for the common good in similar situations.
