16 hours after man falls into well in Kollam, rescue workers edge closer

Kollam: Rescue operation for Muttakkavu native Sudheer who is trapped in a 60-foot deep well in Kottiyam Punchirichira has crossed 16 hours.

The fire force has dug a parallel pit 35 foot deep. It is expected that Sudheer can be rescued after digging 15 feet further.

Sudheer was inserting the ring of the well when he met with the accident. The incident happened at around 1 in the afternoon on Wednesday. Police, fireforce and natives are involved in the rescue operation. A small-size JCB is being used for removing the mud.

There is no report on the health condition of Sudheer. He was part of the team that was installing rings in the well. He was rushing to get out of the well foreseeing danger. But before he could get out, mud from within the well fell over him.

Meanwhile, MLA PC Vishnunadh demanded the state government to provide better equipment for the rescue operation.
