Won't stay away from Kerala politics: Oommen Chandy
Kottayam: Vetetan Congress leader and former chief minister Oommen Chandy, who was appointed today as General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, expressed thanks to Congress President Rahul Gandhi for entrusting him with the new responsibility.
Oommen Chandy was speaking to mediapersons after being appointed as the AICC General Secretary.
The party has entrusted me with a post that is filled with challenges. I completely agree with the party president’s decision, Chandy said.
“I will be involved in Kerala politics even though I have taken up the post. I will try to do hundred per cent justice to the duty entrusted with me. In my political life, I held responsibilities outside Kerala only two times. Both the responsibilities were in Andhra Pradesh, during 1988 and 1989,” he said.
Oommen Chandy said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi is implementing projects that will strengthen the party in all fields before the next Lok Sabha elections.
