Won’t conceal cabinet decisions: Chief Minister
Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet decisions will be publicised under the RTI Act once an order is issued, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Assembly.
Responding to the adjournment motion brought in by the Opposition, the CM said the government is approaching the court intending to get clarity on the matter.
“The government has no intentions to hide cabinet decisions. An order regarding the cabinet issued will be issued within 48 hours. Once the order is issued, the decisions will be available on the government website. The information will be shared only if an order is issued. These are mentioned in the sections of RTI Act. However, the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) issued an order without considering this fact,” he said.
The adjournment motion demanding a discussion on the order for publicising the cabinet decisions was brought in by V D Satheesan MLA in the wake of government’s plan to approach court against the CIC order.
“The government has adopted a stance of concealing facts. Such a trend would destroy the very base of democracy," he alleged.
However, the Opposition members walked out of the Assembly protesting the denial of permission for adjournment motion.
