Pushparajan arrived at the Palakkad district panchayat out of the blue when the evidence collection under the Women's Commission was progressing at the district panchayat hall. The commission director PB Rajeev, who identified Pushparajan, passed the information secretly to the Palakkad women’s cell. Soon, a team of cops arrived and arrested Pushparajan. He was later handed over to Koppam police.

Pushparajan’s family consists of his wife, daughter and two sons. Pattambi Judicial Chief Magistrate had ordered him to pay Rs 7,500 to his wife monthly, after finding that he had abandoned his family. However, he refrained from giving this amount and went into hiding.

The Court informed him that the arrears have touched Rs 1,10,000. Pushparajan obtained bail by paying a penalty of Rs 10,000. The remaining amount has to be paid with the monthly installments.
