Women’s Commission criticises police over maid falling off to death in Kochi
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Women's Commission (WC) is intervening in the incident where a maid fell to her death from an apartment complex in Kochi.
WC chairperson M. C. Josephine demanded to clear the mystery surrounding the incident and conduct a detailed inquiry. The WC said that weak sections of IPC have been registered in connection with the incident. The Commission also demanded a reinvestigation in the case.
Kumari alias Rajakumari (55), a native of Salem in Tamil Nadu died while undergoing treatment after falling from the 6th floor of an apartment complex in Kochi. The flat was located in the heart of the city.
Kumari’s death is suspicious. The police are stating that Kumari died while trying to escape from the flat. However, they have not been able to produce any evidence in this regard. Hence, a detailed probe must be held into the incident.
The Women’s Commission has asked Ernakulam Central CI, who is in charge of the investigation, to file a detailed report immediately. Meanwhile, the WC is trying to collect more information from the resident at the apartment complex and record their detailed statements. The WC is likely to collect the information on Monday or Tuesday.
