Women’s Commission books case against MLA S Rajendran
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Women’s Commission has registered a suo moto case against S. Rajendran MLA for publicly insulting Devikulam sub collector Renu Raj IAS.
The MLA talked in a derogatory manner about the sub collector while trying to block the revenue officers who arrived to stop the illegal construction in Munnar the other day. He said that sub collector is stupid and that she tries to do things just because she has got IAS.
Later, the videos of the incident went viral on social media. As the incident turned into a controversy, the MLA claimed that he did not try to insult the sub collector and also apologised over the issue.
Govt supports sub collector
The government has offered full support to sub collector Renu Raj in her action against the illegal construction and land encroachment in Munnar. Revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan said that the sub collector acted according to law and both the government and revenue department will support her. However, he did not respond on the derogatory remarks made by S. Rajendran MLA.
Kanam Rajendran disowns MLA
Meanwhile, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran disowned the remarks made by S. Rajendran MLA against sub collector Renu Raj. He said that the MLA’s comments were already rejected by the party and that violation of laws should be reported in the court. He added that there is no need to politicise such issues.
