Kochi: A 55-year-old woman who was seriously injured after a fall from the sixth floor of a flat in Kochi, succumbed to her injuries here on Sunday morning. Tamil Nadu native Kumari, 50, is the deceased.
Kumari worked as a maid at a flat in Marine Drive in Kochi and had attempted to climb down from an apartment building by tying sarees together last Saturday. However, she fell down and sustained critical injuries.
Her husband had lodged a complaint against the house owner and police invoked a case based on the complaint.
Police were unable to record the statement of Kumari from the hospital as she was in a critical state. However, police recorded the statement of the owner who employed the woman and also from the neighbours. The police are trying to find out if Kumari was ill treated by the residents and if she was subjected to cruel treatment.
Ernakulam native Imtaz Ahmed employed Kumari in his house as maid and he is the flat association secretary.
