Woman under treatment with Nipah symptoms dies
Kozhikode: A woman who was under treatment with symptoms of Nipah virus infection died on Saturday morning. Thalassery native Roja (39) died at the Kozhikode Medical College.
In total, 17 persons died in the state due to Nipah virus infection till Friday. 17 persons who had close contact with Nipah virus affected patients are under observation. 1945 persons are in the contact list.
Meanwhile, 6 more persons were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College on Friday suspecting Nipah virus infection. The medical reports received yesterday showed the results of 7 persons to be negative, informed the Director of Health Department.
The director also informed that the condition of two persons under treatment has improved. The health department has issued high alert due to the concerns of the Nipah virus infection entering into the second phase.
All PSC examinations till June 16 has been postponed. Restrictions has been imposed in courts and educational institutions in the district. The ban on public meetings and events will be continued.
The district administration has ordered the educational institutions in Wayanad to remain closed till June 5 as precaution against Nipah infection.
