Vasanthi, Sukanya
Thiruvananthapuram: A woman was arrested by the police for attacking her mother-in-law, Vasanthi, in Balaramapuram. Sukanya allegedly disguised herself as a masked man during the attack. Vasanthi is the mother of Sukanya's husband, Ratheesh. According to Sukanya's statement to the police, she attacked Vasanthi to avenge her husband's alleged assault on her while under the influence of his mother. The police have taken Sukanya into custody.
On Tuesday at around 6 am, Vasanthi, a dairy farmer, was returning after delivering milk to a nearby society when she was attacked by an unknown assailant. The attacker, who was wearing a mask, black pants, and a black shirt, brutally beat Vasanthi with an iron bar on her legs and head. The attack resulted in serious injuries, after which the assailant fled from the scene.
At first, the police suspected that a man was responsible for the attack and interrogated several young men in the area. However, their investigation took a turn when they discovered the iron bar used in the attack in an abandoned well near Vasanthi's house. This strengthened the police's suspicions about Vasanthi's family, which they had already been investigating.
Police summoned Ratheesh and his wife Sukanya to the police station while they were returning after attending Vasanthi at Medical College on Thursday and quizzed them. Sukanya confessed to the crime during questioning.
