Woman journalist called Saseendran, confesses channel
Kottayam: The incident of NCP leader A K Saseendran’s resignation over an alleged audio clip has taken a crucial turn with the head of the private channel admitting that it was not a housewife but a woman journalist called the minister.
The television channel had aired the audio clip on Sunday and Saseendran resigned as minister the same day.
Admitting slip on part of the channel, the channel CEO said he is expressing regret over the incident.
Regarding the airing of the story, errors have taken place. It was sting operation. This fact was not revealed earlier since we wanted to conceal the identity of the journalists, he said.
The woman journalist was not compelled to engage in the sting operation. It was decision taken by an eight-member panel of senior journalists, he added.
Meanwhile, a special six-member investigation team headed by Crime Branch IG Dinendra Kashyap has been constituted to probe the incident.
The team will carry out investigation on the complaints received by the DGP. Earlier, a judicial probe was also announced.
