Udiyankulangara: The Parassala police on Monday arrested a woman for allegedly hacking her husband to death in Thiruvananthapuram. The deceased has been identified as Chellappan (58).
The accused is identified as Lourde Mary (58), wife of Chellappan, a resident of Udiyankulangara. The incident took place around 2 am on Monday.
Reportedly, Lourde Mary confessed to the police that she murdered her husband as she was fed up with Chellappan’s debts and money lenders used to visit their house daily demanding money.
The couple along with their children were living in a house in Udiyankulangara.
“On hearing a strange sound, I rushed to the bedroom and saw my father with injuries. Mother was there carrying an axe with blood on it,” the couple’s daughter told the police.
Chellappan, who operated a palm sugar shop, had borrowed money from numerous people for business needs. He attempted to clear all debts by selling a plot of land but couldn't pay back the full amount.
The victim is survived by his three children namely Bribin, Angel Mary and Sumi.
