Pathanamthitta: A woman was found dead near an electric fence adjoining a field at Valliyani. The deceased was identified as Shanthamma. Her husband Abraham claimed that she died of electrocution after coming into contact with an electric fence. He added that he sensed an electric shock upon touching his wife's body.
The incident happened on Saturday evening. Abraham and his son went out searching for Santhamma as she didn't return after she left the house to dump the waste. She was later found dead near the electric fence.
Abraham told police that he found her lying near the field with one leg entangled inside the fence. Police said post-mortem results could shed some light on the cause of death. Later, the body was shifted to Kottayam Medical College after completing the inquest procedures.
Wild animals used to stray into the area. So, the farmers often installed electric fences on their farming lands. The woman was found dead near an electric fence installed by her neighbour Johny. The locals suspect she might have accidentally come into contact with the fence while passing through the area.
