Woman drowns while trying to save neighbour's child from river in Kannur


Though the child was rescued, Amritha could not be saved.

Kannur: A woman drowned in Mattannur river here while trying to save her neihgbour's child. The deceased is identified as Palad Kodolipram native Amritha (25). The incident took place on Thursday morning.

Amritha was trying to save a child from neighbourhood who fell into the river. But during the attempt, she was trapped in a whirlpool. Though the child was rescued, Amritha could not be saved.

Amritha is daughter of C Balakrishnan, lab assistant of Munderi higher secondary school, and Ramani. Anagha is her sister.
