Ettumanoor: A woman died in a private hospital soon after her delivery in Ettumanoor. The victim GS Lakshmi (41) is a teacher in Areepparambu Government Higher Secondary School and wife of Advocate TN Rajesh. Relatives filed a complaint with Ettumanur police station alleging medical negligence.
Lakshmi was taken to a private hospital near Thollakam on Thursday. She gave birth to a girl child on Friday. The doctors informed the relatives that the delivery went well and that both the mother and baby were healthy. However, Lakshmi started bleeding soon and authorities told the relatives that she needs blood. The relatives later told the police that the doctors said they can provide the blood from the hospital itself.
After some time, doctors informed them that bleeding has not stopped and that Lakshmi suffered heart attack twice after delivery. The doctors later removed the uterus in order to stop the bleeding, as per the statement given by the relatives.
The hospital authorities then informed Lakshmi’s husband that she passed away. Based on the complaint filed by the relatives, Ettumanoor police started investigation.
