Thiruvananthapuram: A woman and daughter were attacked while they were returning after filing a complaint with Childline, in the district. Koravankonam native Babitha and her daughter were attacked on Friday at 10.30 am.

They were walking towards Poovachal from Kattakkada as there were no buses plying in that direction. Two men who arrived on a motorbike asked Babitha to go with them for Rs 500. They went back when Babitha confronted them. However, they returned soon and kicked Babitha in the abdomen.

Meanwhile, they lost control of the motorbike and moved in the opposite direction. The locals who assembled hearing the cries informed the police and took Babitha to a primary health care centre. She was then shifted to the medical college hospital after giving first-aid treatment.

Police took both the attackers into custody. They told the police and the locals that they are Vithura natives and they reached Kattakkada to drink alcohol.
