Kannur: The Kuttiady Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly attempting to sexually assault his daughter-in-law. The 25-year-old woman consumed poison after getting disappointed with the misbehaviour of her father-in-law. She is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Reportedly, the woman along with her children left the house following the incident and went to the beach near Thalassery court. She also sent a WhatsApp message to her sister asking her to take care of her three children.
“I am ending my life as I cannot bear the constant harassment of my father-in-law,” read the message.
Following this, the woman’s sister and mother informed Thalassery police. The police traced the woman using her mobile tower location.
The woman had already consumed the poison when the police arrived at the spot. Her three children, aged 4, 6 and 9, were also spotted at the beach.
The police have registered a sexual assault complaint against the woman’s father-in-law on the basis of her statement.
