With Rs 75 lakh investment in bank, Joshi depends on money lenders for his surgery

Joshi at the hospital

Thrissur: Joshi, who has an investment of Rs 75 lakh at the Karuvannur cooperative bank, had to borrow money for his surgery from money lenders. On Sunday, he underwent a five-hour surgery for an infection because of which he lost hearing in one ear.

On January 17, he took treatment for the infection in his ear. A day after ‘Mathrubhumi’ published the news of Joshi’s struggles as he did not get money from the bank, authorities from the cooperative department reached the hospital and gave him Rs 10 lakh.

Doctors had informed an emergency surgery for the tumour growing in his neck. The cooperative department joint director, who had visited the hospital on January 18, assured to give the money for this surgery.

They were preparing for the surgery at Amrita hospital. However, the infection in his ear became an issue.

Joshi (52) will have to continue at the hospital for a week, following which the surgery at Amrita hospital will be conducted.
