With fewer tests, Kerala reports 3,346 COVID-19 cases on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 3,346 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, informed Health Minister KK Shailaja. 33,093 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity has increased to 10.11 percent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam – 574, Kozhikode – 385, Malappuram – 357, Kollam – 322, Pathanamthitta – 123, Kottayam – 308, Alappuzha – 179, Thiruvananthapuram – 296, Thrissur – 182, Kannur – 187, Idukki – 178, Wayanad – 68, Palakkad – 152 and Kasaragod – 35.

None of the UK returnees tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 56 UK returnees have tested positive for coronavirus. Among them 9 have been identified as mutant virus strain.

33,093 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 89,54,140 samples have been tested across various priority groups. 17 deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has reached 3,480.

42 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 2965 people have contracted the virus through contact. The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Ernakulam – 540, Kozhikode – 371, Malappuram – 331, Kollam – 318, Pathanamthitta – 109, Kottayam – 272, Alappuzha – 172, Thiruvananthapuram – 204, Thrissur – 176, Kannur – 138, Idukki – 167, Wayanad – 61, Palakkad – 77 and Kasaragod – 29.

53 health workers also tested positive. Among them, 23 were from Kannur, 5 from Kozhikod, 4 each Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam, 3 each from Palakkad and Ernakulam, 2 from Kasaragod, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kollam and 1 each from Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Idukki.

3921 COVID patients have recovered from the disease. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 218, Kollam – 267, Pathanamthitta – 333, Alappuzha – 559, Kottayam – 109, Idukki – 49, Ernakulam – 518, Thrissur – 605, Palakkad – 186, Malappuram – 488, Kozhikode – 350, Wayanad – 55, Kannur – 167 and Kasaragod – 17.

There are 2,09,786 people under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,98,681 are under home/ institutional quarantine and 11,105 people are in hospitals. 1,247 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.

1 new area has been declared hotspot on Monday. Meanwhile, 2 areas were removed from the hotspot list. With this, there are a total of 419 hotspots in the state.
