With excess employees in KSRTC, temporary staff unlikely to be reinstated
Thiruvananthapuram: The chances of KSRTC temporary employees, removed from duty during the pandemic times, getting reinstated looks bleak. The management stated that the corporation cannot continue with 6400 temporary staff when it cannot even take care of its permanent employees. The administrative committee approved the report which stated that there were more than enough permanent employees in KSRTC.
KSRTC is planning to distribute incentives and bonus to permanent employees with the money (Rs 6 crores) that was used to provide monthly salary for the temporary staff. There is a package under consideration to give compensation to the temporary employees. This has not been approved by the government yet. It cannot be implemented without the financial aid of the government.
The compensation will be distributed based on the duration of their service. There are employees who worked for more than 10 years. There are also High Court orders which instructed the removal of temporary staff from KSRTC. KSRTC is facing contempt of court procedures for failing to uphold this verdict.
