Wind, wave warnings: Fisherfolk cautioned not to venture into sea
Thiruvananthapuram: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as west winds lashing coastal Kerala could reach speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour.
The IMD has warned fisherfolk not to venture into the regions mentioned below on the following days:
July 21 to 22: Kerala, Karnataka, south Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep coasts; as west winds could reach speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour.
July 21 to 25: Mid and south-western Arabian sea; as west winds could reach speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour.
July 21: South-west Bay of Bengal as south-west winds could reach speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour.
The IMD warned that waves in Bay of Bengal could reach as high as 4 metres in the next 24 hours. Rough seas are also expected and fishermen have been cautioned not to venture into the sea.
Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a giant wave warning on Kerala coast. The coastal areas between Pozhiyoor and Kasaragod are likely to experience waves reaching a height of 3.7 to 4.3 metres till 11.30 pm on Monday.
