Thiruvananthapuram: Amid mounting pressure from the Opposition for minister Saji Cheriyan’s resignation over his anti-Constitution remarks, CPM party headquarters AKG centre witnessed dramatic scenes. CM Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan are at the AKG Centre for an important meeting.

Prior to the meeting, CPM leaders held discussions with prominent personalities, including the AG.

The available PB has convened at the AKG centre. Minister Saji Cheriyan too is attending the meeting.

The opposition members has been raising protest in the Assembly claiming that Saji Cheriyan has lost his right to continue in office.

It is learnt that the state government is pondering over whether resignation can be averted. The matter is deliberated by examining all the layers of the issue including the intervention of court.

Reports have emerged that CPM central leadership is not happy with Cheriyan’s statement. Similarly, even the allies of LDF has taken stand against Cheriyan. The developments come amid this.

The opposition disrupted the Assembly proceedings on Wednesday raising slogans and demanding the minister’s resignation over his disparaging comments.

The question hour and zero hour was withdrawn and the speaker adjourned the proceedings for the day.
