Will respond on Walayar rape case after studying court verdict: Loknath Behera
Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Loknath Behera said that he will respond to the acquittal of the accused in the Walayar rape case after receiving the report on the matter. Behera added that he will examine whether there were any lapses in the investigation after getting the copy of the court’s verdict.
Speaking to media persons in the state capital, the DGP called the Walayar rape case a grave and emotional incident. Loknath Behera also said that he will decide on further steps including taking disciplinary action against officials after going through the court’s judgement.
Speaking about the killing of Maoists in Palakkad, Behera said that he doesn’t have a say on the matter as the case would be handed over to crime branch upon Supreme Court’s instruction or a judicial probe based on the government’s direction.
However, Loknath Behera did not respond to the opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s allegation that the encounter was pre planned. The DGP said he would inform the media after going through a detailed report on the issue.
