Attempts made to ruin universities in Kerala by using Governor as tool: Thomas Issac

Arif Muhammad Khan-Thomas Issac

Veteran CPM leader and former finance minister Thomas Issac on Monday took to Facebook and expressed concerns over the ongoing tussle between the state government and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Issac in his Facebook post said that BJP has been flouting norms to appoint RSS loyalists in academic institutions, including central universities like JNU, and noted that such attempts to ruin universities in Kerala by using Governor as tool will not be entertained.

He pointed out that the Governor has been ruining Raj Bhavan (official residence of the governor of Kerala) by appointing officials as if it is a RSS shaka.

According to Issac, even as Left government is open to constructive criticisms, the Governor in his capacity as chancellor is breaching the limits of his constitutional role.

He referred to Khan’s remarks who said that Kannur VC is a criminal and opined that Governor has stooped to a pitiable level.
