Palakkad: A wild jumbo trampled a youth to death in Attapadi here in the wee hours of Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Lakshman, a resident of Uthukkuzhi hamlet in Sholayoor.

The person was attacked while he came out to relieve himself. The incident happened after forest department’s Rapid Response Team(RRT) are maintaining a vigil in the area, said reports.

The region has been witnessing elephant raids, according to locals. A wild jumbo charged towards a RRT’s vehicle the other day. Although the driver tried to give way for the animal, it did not turn away. The driver had to take the vehicle in reverse gear for about 2.5 km.
