Iritty: In an intriguing incident, a wild jumbo gave birth to a baby in the middle of a road in Kannur. The incident occurred in Aralam Farm Agricultural Nursery on Wednesday night. Hours after the delivery, the elephant and its calf went back to the bushes inside the farm in the wee hours.
Adding to the curiosity of the viewers, the mother elephant was accompanied by five other wild jumbos who provided protection. After some time following the birth, the baby was gently caressed by the mother, who later patted and slowly pushed the newborn towards the farm.
According to the forest authorities, special surveillance has been arranged in the area to ensure safe movement of the elephants and to protect local residents from dangers.
